• whitewater model packraft use in NZ
Packrafts are versatile inflatable watercraft that are designed to be lightweight, portable, and durable. They are primarily used for recreational purposes in a variety of outdoor activities, but they can also be used for certain professional and commercial applications. Here are some common usage areas for packrafts: Recreational River Running: Packrafts are often used by outdoor enthusiasts for river running, where they can navigate through rapids, whitewater sections, and calmer stretches of rivers. They provide a thrilling and accessible way to explore remote waterways and experience the joy of paddling. Backpacking and Hiking: Packrafts are popular among backpackers and hikers as they offer an efficient means of water transportation. They can be easily packed down to a small size and carried in a backpack, allowing users to cross lakes, ponds, and rivers that intersect their hiking routes. Fishing: Packrafts provide anglers with access to remote fishing spots that are difficult to reach by other means. They can carry fishing gear and allow fishermen to explore and fish in rivers, lakes, and even coastal areas. Expedition and Wilderness Travel: Packrafts are widely used in expeditions and wilderness travel, enabling adventurers to explore remote and untouched areas. They can be used to traverse rivers, lakes, and even open ocean sections, providing a means of transportation in otherwise inaccessible locations. Photography and Filmmaking: Packrafts are favored by photographers and filmmakers who want to capture stunning images and footage from unique angles on the water. They offer a stable platform for equipment and provide access to otherwise unreachable perspectives. Search and Rescue Operations: Packrafts are utilized by search and rescue teams in situations where water is involved. They can aid in swift-water rescues, allowing rescuers to navigate through challenging conditions and reach individuals in distress. Scientific Research: Packrafts are used by researchers and scientists for fieldwork in aquatic environments. They can collect samples, conduct studies, and assist in data collection in areas where other watercraft may not be feasible. It's important to note that packrafts have weight and capacity limitations, and users should always adhere to safety guidelines and regulations based on their specific usage and location.

its a gift from Love Inflatables Whitewater Raft uses feed back our raft good performance .  The base fabric inside the 33 ounce pvc is a very strong 2000 denier polyester, and wrap-up layers on the underside of each raft toughen them up even more – though as mentioned at the end of the first paragraph those extra layers also make any raft that has them a bear to roll up. the low profile Leafield D-7 valves throughout. The D-7 is a bit slower than the B-7 especially during deflation, but the problem with the B-7 is that it’s high profile cap seems to bash paddle crew knuckles no matter where they are located. Such is the case with the 13′ and 14′ Tributary rafts. One of the most surprising features of the self bailing  boats is that they have lace-in floors, not permanently mounted ones. Should something happen to your floor, your can unlace it if you have the time, and we make replacement . Laced floors cost far more to produce, but they have the benefit of draining a raft quicker than glued ones can. It is quite unusual to find a laced floor on a raft of this low price.
  • test your packraft
how to test your packraft ?  you can judge a packraft from construction , weight , price , but the most important is the performance on water .  Packrafts appeal more to outdoorsy types looking for a new way to enjoy the wilderness or countryside, but with no interest in acquiring the technical skills far less the storage and transport issues of hardshells. They won’t come across these boats very often but as this test clearly proved, anyone can hop into a packraft, set off down river in a straight line and tackle an Environmental Agency Grade III canoe chute. The testers all ‘got it’ and by the end some were already cooking up packrafting adventures. While testing, we considered the following characteristics: ease of use, weight/packed size, durability, paddle-ability, and cost/value. We also favored boats that are readily available in North America

  • How to choose a TPU packraft ?
How to choose a packraft ? There are a few different types of packrafts available. Which one you choose will depend on how and where you intend to use it.  Firstly you need to decide if you need a lightweight packraft or a heavy duty mini-raft. Packrafts are made from a durable but lightweight material and can fold down quite small for carrying in a backpack. They can be used combined with hiking, bike touring or other methods of transport. Mini-rafts are similar designs but made from heavy duty materials so are not as light and do not pack down quite as small as packrafts. They are excellent 'hard boat' replacements for canoes or kayaks, and perfect where you expect to drive to the water, or where weight and size of a hard boat is undesirable, but ultimate packability and an ultra light boat is not necessary. There are three basic design types of packraft.  The first type is the Standard or Open design. This is generally the lightest model, as it doesn't have any extra attachments or accessories like the following types below. The Standard design will generally come with a basic seat and backrest. It is easy to get in and out of, and will pack down smaller and generally weigh less than the other types below.  The Standard design can be used for general recreation, flat water like lakes, touring, and easy moving or low grade whitewater. The second type is the Spraydeck design. This is a very popular design as the spraydeck provides some protection from the elements, and in moving or whitewater it can help to prevent water washing over and into the packraft. The spraydeck can be a removable or touring/cruiser version, which is very common, or there are models that are specific to whitewater with a fixed spraydeck, which you then fit an extra 'skirt' to in order to keep the inside of the packraft water free just like in a kayak. These weigh a little more due to the extra weight of the spraydeck. Because the spraydeck is fitted around you, it takes a little longer to enter and exit the packraft. They are great all-rounder boats and can be used to tour in, on whitewater (depending on the packraft and experience of the paddler), and the spraydeck or skirt can be removed for general recreation.  The third type is the Self-Bailing design (or self bailer). These packrafts are designed for moving and whitewater environments. They are an open design and allow most water that washes into the packraft to eventually exit through holes in the floor of the packraft when moving.  They generally have an inflatable floor or insert. They are more exposed than a spraydeck design, so are more suited to warmer climate environments or where the paddler wears protective outerwear such as a drysuit. They are quick to enter and exit, and make scouting rapids or portages faster and easier because of this. Each type of packraft above has its own pros and cons, and perfor...
